School Education Department

The School Education Department provides free, quality education to over 1.7 crore students in 8 language mediums — Marathi, Hindi, English, Urdu, Gujarati, Kannada, Telugu, and Tamil.

With 4.2 lakh teachers across 1.1 lakh schools, supported by officers in every district, the department is guided by the Principal Secretary under the state government.
